This rule is a compelling alternative to the traditional Ante mechanic, designed to be used in Core Generation games only when all participating players explicitly agree. It introduces high-stakes decision-making while mitigating the risks associated with unilateral property transfer.
1.1. Determining the Ante Card
Procedure: Before shuffling their decks, each player randomly removes one card from their deck and places it face-up in a designated "Ante Zone." This card is referred to as their Ante Card.
1.2. Resolution of the Ante
Once the game's winner is determined, the two Ante Cards (the winner's and the loser's) are resolved according to the following procedure.
1.3. The Right to Trade
The winner is granted the exclusive right to choose whether an exchange of Ante Cards will occur.
1.4. Executing the Trade
If the winner chooses to "Execute the Trade," the two Ante Cards are exchanged. The winner permanently acquires the loser's Ante Card, and the loser permanently acquires the winner's Ante Card.
1.5. Declining the Trade
If the winner chooses to "Decline the Trade," both Ante Cards are immediately returned to their original owners.
This rule must be applied with the highest degree of ethical consideration and mutual trust within the community.
2.1. Strict Requirement for Explicit Consent
Mandatory: The Tradable Ante rule must be applied only when all participants explicitly and clearly agree to the rules and understand the potential outcomes before the match begins.
Informed Risk: Players must understand that agreeing to this rule means they accept the risk of being forced into a trade that may be financially or sentimentally disadvantageous.
2.2. Legal and Ethical Compliance
Non-Sanctioned Rule: This is a community-created house rule, not endorsed by Wizards of the Coast. Core Generation and its creators do not endorse or encourage gambling and assume no liability for legal issues related to the transfer of property or value.
Local Laws: Players are solely responsible for ensuring that the application of this rule complies with all local laws and regulations concerning games of chance, gambling, and the transfer of property. The use of actual currency or objects of significant cash value in the Ante Zone is strictly prohibited.
2.3. Integrity of Play
Randomness: The Ante Card selection process must maintain absolute randomness. Any attempt to manipulate the selection is considered cheating.
Focus on Skill: The intent of the Tradable Ante is to add a layer of high-stakes strategic decision-making to the format, emphasizing the value of skill and knowledge, not to encourage play motivated purely by the acquisition of card value.
